In Vitro Fertilization Round 2, Freeze Baby

If you followed our journey in 2013, you'll know that our sweet Elena was the result of going through the process of In Vitro Fertilization. Its an emotional roller coaster, but also amazing when you see first hand how the process works.

We were fortunate to beat all the odds and be successful on the first try, leaving two good embryos that we decided to have frozen. As a kid growing up in the 80s, I can't help have visions of Han Solo being frozen in Carbonite, but I digress.

After weeks of watching my amazing wife turn her body into a primed baby-making machine through a cocktail of injections, pills, and their related side effects, we were ready to try again.

Today was the day that we thawed embryo #2 (who I'll try my very hardest not to call Han Solo)  and transferred it to DeAnn's finely tuned baby maker. Its an incredibly exciting time, but also a nerve-wracking time as we wait two weeks to find out if it worked.

Its hard not to feel confident... it worked perfectly the first time, can we be that lucky again? We're trying to remain grounded and prepared for it not to work, but I don't think we're doing a very good job with that. We'll just keep thinking positive thoughts and see what happens over the coming weeks. Wish us luck!

Best baby picture ever... our embryo just before transfer, waking up from its slumber.
